The vision, in a few words

Speakeasy Moody Secretive Private Celebratory Friends & family

Priorities, in order

This is a gathering of the people closest to Talene and Paul — not a big public affair. Every venue below is measured against the same criteria: that hidden-door, speakeasy atmosphere first, then the cocktail program, then food, then room for the night to run late.

  • Working budget ceiling$80,000
  • Guest count modeled200
  • Reception length~5 hrs, evening into late night

HOW THESE NUMBERS WERE BUILT

Every total below is modeled at 200 guests, built directly from each venue's own proposal: fixed costs (room buyout, hotel space, staffing) are held constant, guest-driven costs (bar consumption, beverage minimum) are calculated at the venue's own per-guest rate, and each venue's own tax, gratuity, and service-charge percentages are applied on top. Each venue's total is the venue price plus an estimated bar spend — for The Eleanor and Inn Cahoots, the bar is billed on consumption rather than a flat fee, so what's shown is our best estimate of what 200 guests will actually drink, not a guaranteed number. Food is excluded from every total — neither Inn Cahoots nor The Betty price catering into their quotes, so The Eleanor's stationed hors d'oeuvres ($10,750) are budgeted separately too, to keep the comparison fair. Figures below are estimates, not final invoices.

$80K BUDGET REALITY

What 200 guests actually costs, at each venue

Bars are scaled to the $80,000 ceiling. All three still land comfortably under it at 200 guests — the deciding factor is less "can we afford it" and more how much room is left over for design, decor, activations, and entertainment.

The Eleanor$27,640 / $80,000 · $138/guest
$27,640
Already quoted at 200 guests. Venue rental as quoted; bar consumption modeled at $20/guest/hr over the ~4.4-hr service window. Catering ($10,750) budgeted separately.
Inn Cahoots$33,300 / $80,000 · $166/guest
$33,300
Hotel and Bar Mischief rental as quoted; bar consumption calculated at 200 guests using the venue's $12/guest/hr rate.
The Betty$45,100 / $80,000 · $225/guest
$45,100
Buyout and staffing as quoted; beverage minimum calculated at 200 guests using the venue's $140/guest rate.
VENUE 01

The Eleanor

A compact, candlelit room made for a secret night in with the people who matter most.

THE ELEANOR

Estimated cost — 200 guests

Venue rental (4 hrs) + setup/breakdown$4,800
Bar — 200 guests × $20/hr × ~4.4 hrs avg$17,500
Bar service charge (20% of bar tab)$3,500
Sales tax on full subtotal (8.25%)$1,840
Estimated all-in total$27,640
Cost per guest: $138 · Excludes catering (quoted separately at $10,750) so this lines up with Inn Cahoots and The Betty, whose totals also exclude food. Bar consumption is billed per-guest, per-hour — not reflected in the venue's own $20,125 quoted invoice. The Eleanor also offers a per-person bar package as an alternative to consumption pricing; per-person packages typically come with a more limited drink menu.

Gains

  • Two working bars in a single intimate room
  • Lowest estimated total and lowest cost-per-guest of the three
  • Already sized for 200 guests

Trade-offs

  • Bar is consumption-based, so the true cost runs well above the quoted invoice
  • Capped at 200 guests — no room to grow the list
  • Hard midnight end / 1am breakdown, with late fees after

How Avent elevates it

A password or knock at the door, candle-heavy bar styling, hand-lettered speakeasy cocktail menus, black-and-white flash portraits, a close-up cocktail ritual at one bar, and a single strong floral focal point rather than full-room décor — moody enough to feel secret, warm enough to feel like family.

Avent takeaway — Lowest cost of the three at 200 guests, and the most intimate footprint.
VENUE 02

Inn Cahoots

A hidden-door, room-to-room hideaway — the kind of night friends and family stumble into and don't want to leave.

Furniture move-out labor$600
Bar — 200 guests × $12/hr × 5 hrs$12,000
Service fee, bar gratuity, tax & card processing$7,605
Estimated all-in total$33,300
Cost per guest: $166 · Calculated using the venue's own $12/guest/hr bar rate and overhead percentages. Inn Cahoots also offers a per-person bar package as an alternative to consumption pricing; per-person packages typically come with a more limited drink menu.

Gains

  • Existing lounge furniture, cocktail tables, and bar stools are usable — no rental spend needed
  • Outside catering and food trucks already permitted, at no added fee
  • Lowest estimated total and lowest cost-per-guest of the three

Trade-offs

  • If guests don't meet the bar minimum, the shortfall bills as venue rental
  • Guest flow across rooms needs to be designed on purpose, not left to chance

How Avent elevates it

A secret-entry moment guests have to find on purpose, Bar Mischief positioned as the hidden cocktail den at the heart of the night, low candlelight guiding friends and family room to room, custom signage, and one late-night lounge with entertainment tucked out of sight until someone stumbles onto it.

Avent takeaway — The most budget-friendly option at 200 guests, with the most room left for design.
VENUE 03

The Betty

The room already feels like a secret you're in on — the job here is to enhance it, not disguise it.

THE BETTY
The Betty
THE BETTY

Estimated cost — 200 guests

Full buyout (inside + patio) + cleaning fee$5,400
Staffing — coordinator, hosts, security$1,620
Beverage minimum — 200 guests × $140$28,000
Gratuity, tax & admin fee$10,080
Estimated all-in total$45,100
Cost per guest: $225 · Calculated using the venue's own $140/guest beverage rate. Room buyout and staffing don't scale with headcount, so this is the highest per-guest cost of the three.

Gains

  • Strongest built-in cocktail-lounge aesthetic — needs the least design lift
  • Fully inclusive quote, no consumption guesswork
  • Interior and patio both included in the buyout

Trade-offs

  • Highest total and highest cost-per-guest of the three, even at fewer guests
  • The beverage minimum alone is over 60% of the total spend
  • No catering line in the quote — food would need to be sourced and budgeted separately

How Avent elevates it

Custom speakeasy-style menus, dense candlelight, a signature cocktail presentation, one strong floral installation, live jazz transitioning into a DJ, and vintage flash photography — a room already built for secrets, dressed for a celebration among friends and family.

Avent takeaway — Most atmosphere out of the box, least flexibility and highest cost per guest.

AVENT RECOMMENDATION

Three strong options, three different priorities

All three sit comfortably under the $80,000 ceiling at 200 guests. The right choice depends on which trade-off matters most to Talene and Paul.

BEST OVERALL VALUE

The Eleanor

Lowest total and lowest cost-per-guest at 200 guests, and the tightest, most candlelit room of the three for a private cocktail-club feel.

MOST EXPERIENTIAL

Inn Cahoots

Second-lowest cost, and the most room-to-room, discovery-driven format of the three. It's also the only venue of the three that provides overnight accommodations on-site.

STRONGEST BUILT-IN ATMOSPHERE

The Betty

The least design work required to feel finished — at the highest cost and the least flexibility for food and entertainment spend.
